Congrats to Lindsay! Monacan High School, Class of 2011

You might remember this young lady from earlier this summer...her name is Lindsay and she is an awesome, sweet, loving young woman who will be graduating with the 2011 class of Monacan High School. I am blushing as I admit that before I did this session, my knowledge of Down Syndrome was very limited. However, I was very open with Lindsay's mother Anne, and she answered any questions I had so that I knew what to expect the day of our session. Basically, Lindsay is just like any other girl...but to me, she is even more special because of her ability to learn, love, grow and experience life despite her disability. Lindsay is refreshingly honest and genuine, and naturally an affectionate person, especially with her momma! She is a talented dancer and is involved with Miracles in Motion, a division of Ann Catherine Cross School of Dance. Their website states that "Miracles in Motion is a dance class designed specifically for children with disabilities. The class covers many styles of dance including ballet, jazz, modern and musical theater. Every session is re-structured to meet the specific needs of each child participating. Recitals and community performances are planned to allow them the same opportunities as any other dance organization.” Not only can the children learn to be a part of a team and make friends but they are also developing their motor skills.
